This workshop will acquaint participants with principles and practices of formative and summative assessment in ESL writing instruction. The presenter will offer tools for integrating formative approaches into ESL literacy courses. Tasks will include connecting assessment to teaching, reviewing scoring rubrics, and rating writing samples based on contextually appropriate criteria.
